Welcome to GSDM July 2012 Issue: Women of the Revolution

The latest issue of GSDM is out now for free download. Focusing on the Women of the Revolution in the Middle East and Africa, contributions from Catriona Knapman, Tawakel Karman, and Ioulia Fenton take a positive look at female empowerment. As always, however, the edition is not limited to the cover story. James Belgrave writes a hard hitting expose on the state of press freedoms in Burundi. Meerim Shakirova highlights the consequences of climate change in Central Asia. Meanwhile, Carolynn Look profiles Mexico, its history and development and Noah Marwil argues that sports are a vital positive youth development tool. New additions to the GSDM correspondent team Ricardo Morel and Sarah Ferst discuss whether legality and viability go far enough as far as Conga mining projects in Peru are concerned and take stock of Argentinians’ discontentment at their country’s economics and politics, respectively. Finally, Sandeep Srivastava argues that child marriage in South Asia is yet another form of child abuse. We hope you enjoy reading and, as always, welcome your comment to the editor – please write to manoj.bhusal@silcreation.org or leave a comment in the box below.
